Carmelina Cupo is a young singer poised to capture the pop market with strong songwriting, infectious star quality, and strong ambition. Carmelina has already created a strong fan base in the Vancouver, BC Canada area by performing at numerous shows and festivals. Performing has always been easy for Carmelina, from an early age she has mesmerized her audiences by creating a bond between herself and them. Carmelina Cupo's debut album entitled, "I Don't Look Like You" was released on April 15th, 2000. It features eleven strong tracks that deal with issues such as jealousy, envy, loneliness, trust and discrimination. The strikingly beautiful Carmelina named her album, "I Don't Look Like You" because of the emotional chord this song touched. The song addresses discrimination in all forms. Carmelina's album was recorded at Beat Productions in Chiliwack, BC with the incredible musicianship and arranging skills of Peter Kilgour. It was mixed with John Shep (MATTHEW GOOD and GOB) at Utopia Parkway Studio in Vancouver, BC., and it was mastered with Craig Waddell (98 DEGREES/SARAH MCLACHLAN) of Gotham City Recordings in Vancouver, BC. The Producer for Carmelina's album is Darren Staten, who co-wrote nine out of the eleven songs on the album, and is an award winning songwriter and founder of her label Synergy Records. Carmelina toured Italy in the summer of 1999 competing in singing competitions, and she was a regional finalist for the Miss World Beauty Pageant. "Cupo has skin like caramel, eyes the color of the sky, a body like a supermodel, a voice like sweet liquid." Cori Howard, The National Post "With confidence and power, Carmelina took the crowd for a ride with tracks from her new debut CD, "I Don't Look Like You".
