Artist description
"Blind Man Walking" was formed in April of 1997 by singer/songwriter Chad Cantrell. In 1998, the band recorded and released a self-titled 8 song E.P. An eclectic mix of acoustic based rock, the band was warmly received by local radio and a growing fan base, due in part to the band’s live energy. The band’s philosophy was simple: play wherever, whenever they could and build things up from the ground up. 3 years later, that philosophy hasn’t changed. Since then, the band has played a slew of live shows, recorded a demo with producer Rick May (drummer for the Christian heavyweights DC Talk) and has just wrapped up work on their 1st full-length, independently released CD, Mindful of the Mission. For Mindful, the band brought on board the production skills of former Over The Rhine bassist Mike Georgin and the engineering finesse of Cammie award winner Marcos Sastry. "This time around," Chad says, "We slowed down and focused on the songs. We feel content to have been given the chance to record something we’re proud of and now to go out and support it." The band plans to tour as extensively as possible in support of Mindful, playing for anyone who will listen. "Our strength," Michael says, "Is playing live. Coffeehouses, festivals, youth functions, bars, it’s all the same to us. No show is ever too big or too small. We’ve shared the bill with signed bands and we’ve played in little holes in the wall. Wherever there are hurting people and even the remotest chance that we can lift someone up, that’s where we want to be. We’re not in this for fame and fortune. There are already enough of those bands. We just seek to be in a place where God can use us,period." |
