    Artist History
CrossTown, an up and coming contemporary jazz group, consists of four musicians who each play in a number of Chicago and Washington, DC based groups. Two members reside in Chicago and two in the Washington DC metro area (hence "CrossTown"). The groups' founders, Ronald Cannon (on guitar) and Ronny Johnson (on bass) met in the third grade (picture). By the time they were in high school, the pair had formed several bands, and were one of the most sought after guitar and bass duo on Chicago's West side. The pair later collaborated with Anthony Space, a great keyboardist, who grew up in the same neighborhood. Later, Ronald and Ronny left Chicago to join the military while Anthony toured Europe with various Chicago Blues artists. After completing his service tour, Ronald moved to Washington, DC. Years later, Ronald, Ronny, and Anthony scheduled a group session in Chicago. Maurice Teel of Alexandria, Virginia joined that session on drums. The session yielded a unique, cohesive, and incomparable sound. CrossTown was formed. Fans of CrossTown have coined the groups' Midwest session release as "the CD where all tracks complement one another, beginning to end."
