Artist History Absent Friends evolved from the demise of ISLAND. ISLAND was our band for nine years, featuring the same line-up of musicians for the last six years of it’s existence. After our long-time drummer Mikey quit, we searched to no avail, for a drummer of his caliber. After months of frustration and drummer auditions, our long-time friend and bass player Kenny called it quits, too, leaving Billy and Myself (Mike) on our own. Upon the abandonment of Kenny (bass) and Mikey (drums), and the five or six previous members who left or were fired, we became Absent Friends.
