Artist History
…formed in 1992 with Jeremy Enigk on guitar and vocals, Dan Hoerner on guitar, Nate Mendel on bass, and William Goldsmith on drums.
…put out two 7" singles-- "Flatland Spider" in late ’93 and "Thief, Steal Me A Peach" in early ’94-- on their own One Day I Stopped Breathing label.
…released their first full length record, Diary, on May 10, 1994.
…toured extensively throughout 1994, but never as a full band in the state of California.
…only did one interview, and only released one photo of themselves to the media.
…recorded their second album, Sunny Day Real Estate (commonly known as "the pink album") in March of 1995, and broke up shortly thereafter.
…released this second album November 7, 1995. Nate and William joined the Foo Fighters, while Dan moved out to a farm with his wife and their dog. Jeremy recorded an ambitious solo album with the help of a 21-piece orchestra. It was called Return of the Frog Queen and it still gives people goosebumps when they hear it. Brilliant.
…initially started playing together again in the summer of 1997, when they considered recording a few songs for an "odds & sods" compilation of rare tracks, live recordings, and the like. Practice ran smoothly, and they decided to write and record an entire new record together.
…recorded their third album last spring at Robert Lang Studios in Seattle. It's called How It Feels to Be Something On, and was released September 22nd, 1998.
