Artist History
Squelch's began as a recording project in order to record something different, and shake up the grunge-oriented Dallas music scene. Jason English
and Chris Smith had been working out some songs and enlisted the aid of other like-minded local musicians to round out the sound of the album.
The fruit of the sessions, "Valium Effort" was a collection of 11 songs that captured a wide variety of genres into a strangely appealing whole.
From there, bassist/vocalist English, drummer Smith and guitarist Miller decided to play a show or two and hand the CDs out. Out of the ensuing practices and many shows, the trio began writing new material that was too interesting to ignore... so they
decided to continue on as a band. Their sound is still evolving today, becoming more complex... and more accessible at the same time. Greg Shows joined as lead vocalist in May and the band recorded 7 new songs. The entire collection will be available on MP3.com in August.
Squelch's is currently playing out, and writing songs for their second complete album, due winter 1999. |
