Artist description
The song "Heavy Junk" has been the Pick Hit Of The Day Winner on amp3.com and #1 on the funk and jazz charts for several weeks on mp3.com, amp3.com, and soundclick.com. "Cop A Boom" and "Somethin' Else" and "Fa Doo Ba Dee Ba Doo Bomph"are also frequent visitors to the top positions on mp3.com's urban/pop, funk, and jazz fusion charts. . . . . .Original James Brown style funk featuring guest artist former Tower of Power saxophonist Paul Perez, 40. Also featuring the two award winning musicians, pianist and keyboardist Dennis Hamm, 23, and drummer Jarred Pope, 28. And introducing the funky stylings of guitarist Doug Sikola, 28, and bassist Forrestt Williams, 22.MFC is all original, most of the initial ideas coming from the minds of Sikola and Williams with a little fine tuning by Hamm and Pope. Refreshingly original material combined with each member's impressive command of their instrument sets MFC apart from most others in it's field. |

Artist History
In the summer of 1998 Sikola and Williams gathered some original material and teamed up with the talented drummer Jarred Pope. After a month of rehearsing the rhythm section the three decided to add a saxophonist to the mix. And why not steal one from Tower of Power. Once Perez and Hamm came aboard MFC took another month of rehearsing before laying down the six tracks found here on mp3.com in August '98 - A real fresh documentof the capabilities of this group. Unfortunately, Mr. Perezdecided not to stick around with the band, so the four memberscontinue to play without him. Worried at first about the lack of horns, the band played at some local venues to see if they could continue, and the response was incredible. The rhythm section took a hiatus to play withthe Smokin' Armadillos and the core members - and Sikola continued to write new material. So if you all are growing tired of these songs (which you're obviously not, considering ourstats on mp3.com) get ready for some new recordings as a four piece in the fall of '00, and coming to a town near you (if you live in California) soon. |
