Artist description
I am essentially a Home Studio/Singer/Songwriter. I write, record and perform the songs myself. My main influences are mostly made up of older blues and rock and roll, the likes of Muddy Waters,Willie Dixon and Robert Johnson to Buddy Holly, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. I would say they influenced the musical part of my mind, while the lyrical part came from Bob Dylan,John Hiatt and John Lennon. I know these are all fairly popular refrences, but they are the truth. While I like to write whatever comes to mind, lyrically and musically, I think the sound that I most seem to come to is a blend of Blues and Rock, I like a strong uptempo beat with raw guitar and lyrics that have something to say. I also enjoy the stripped down acoustical songs, I enjoy the intimacy and the challenge of nothing but you and your guitar and your words.I enjoy all kinds of music and attempt to write outside of my preferences at times, these are the sounds and styles that made me want to do this in the first place. |

Artist History
After playing drums in many bands in my youth, I basically gave up the music scene for a few years to pursue a career in writing(short stories, the great American novel, yadda, yadda, yadda). I was living with my best friend in Minneapolis when he brought home a guitar of his brothers and told me he'd known I'd always wanted to learn. I picked it up and havn't put it down since, learning Bass, keyboards and the recording process in the meantime. I found the confines of writing a song the perfect companion for my attention span, and fell in love with songwriting. That was in 1989, since then I've written close to 500 songs and recorded over three hundred. MP3.com came along and here I am. |

Press Reviews
"Rough, hook-laden, bar-thumping, blues rock. More George Thorogood than Muddy Waters, it goes perfect with straight whiskey and poker. Just when you sink into this groove, they lay a romantic folk-ballad out on you. Sounds Like: Steve Earle, George Thorogood, Bo Diddley"-LISTEN.COM "No genre-warping here. Just straightahead rock from this solo artist-- minimally distorted guitars and plaintive vocals mixed right upfront. Sounds Like: Hank Williams, Jr., Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp, Buddy Holly" -LISTEN.COM |
