Artist description
Washington DC : USA : BabyDoll Johnson is the creator of an advanced new machine. They are blending the musical styles of hypnotic electronica, aggressive metal, robotic industrial, along with dream-inducing soundscapes to create new sonic realities. It has been said that in some ways they are more scientist than musician. First assembled in 1998 by Dame Smith (vocals, guitar, bass, programming) and Dr Jones (guitars), BabyDoll Johnson was born out of a love for digital manipulation and music. In 1999 Smith and Jones picked up the glamorous BabyDoll Richards (electronics). Now BabyDoll Johnson is pushing the envelope of how music can be made, manipulated and distributed. Their motto: "Use technology, or it will use you." With the Internet as their greatest tool, they have ensured a worldwide audience. Along with a handful of real-world releases, most of their tracks have been in digital form. The response to this was resounding, achieving the top position at many of the Internet's largest musical showcases, including Riffage.com and MP3.com. Interest grows on a daily basis, with fans around the world devoting their personal time and resources to create their own tribute to BabyDoll Johnson. Constantly creating, revising, and recording, BabyDoll Johnson has now released their first experimental sampler cd to the media. Entitled "ProtoType", this 5-track disk is just a glimpse of what their album "Disclaimer" holds. Concurrently, the band is also in rehearsals for what will prove to be an intriguing, exhausting, and unforgettable tour. |
