Music Style Askew take basic pop songwriting-craft and supplement it with a Cage/Stockhausen found-sound sensibility. The song structures vary from highly ordered to loose and improvisational.

Artist History Stuart McLeod, of the Clan McLeod, (drums, vibraphone, sampler) met John "Mr. Scott" Moen (bass, vox) in high school when John beat him up and took his lunch money. The two didn't speak for years until Matthew Duss (guitar, vox), a refugee from New York, arrived in Seattle on the run from the INS and looking to form a band to bring forth new, unheard musics. Matt and Stuart met Aaron Pope George Ringo XVI Lewis (turntables, drums, toasts) at a Thanksgiving celebration during which Stuart got some action (go Stu). They then introduced Aaron to John, who promptly beat him up and took his lunch money. James Drage (keyboards, sampler), the Canadian of the group, was invited to join after a friendly night of alcohol consumption, rounding out the now international quintet.
