Artist description
Hello there. No-one has really reviewed my music without saying that it sounded "very weird," so I've stepped in to give you a somewhat flimsy explanation as to what I do and why. I play the guitar. I also play bass, keys, and drums. I also sing. I also read, write, work and go to the bathroom. Anyway, I have two fundamental goals in mind when I write music. The first one being that I want to make something that I can enjoy hearing. The other goal is to present the idea that I've zeroed in on. I've been told that my music can be "too repetitive," or that it "sounds the same as that other song you did." My response: I like music that repeats, and I like to expand upon ideas.
I have been writing & performing music since 1995. In creating the music you hear on this site, I used my trusty PC, "Charlie," some Epiphone and Ibanez guitars, a Boss ME-30 effects unit, a Cort 5-string bass, and Cambridge speakers.
I have a history of having very little equipment and lost of creative force. I started with inventing for myself a feeble boom-box multi-track technique. I went from there to using four-tracks. Then I experienced what it was like to record in a studio. My musical work with a fellow called Nathan Young introduced me to computers and saw the potential in using a computer as a studio. Since I began using my PC as a studio in 1998, the quality of my hardware and software has changed. Along with the computer specs, the quality of my sound, my playing, and my aim has changed.
My pieces are constructed "from scratch," from section to section. The drums and percussion in each piece are samples of drums, "drawn" into the song, using Sonic Foundry's "Acid" Software. I have full control over the placement of each sample, so it involves thinking like a drummer and having an understanding of how to play drums. I'm much worse at a regular kit.
In the future I intend to put together a group that can play this type of material. So far, I don't know anyone who lives in my geographic region that is capable of playing this stuff. I'm sure there are plenty who can, but who probably wouldn't like it all that much, or wouldn't be crazy enough to want to play this stuff publicly. Sometimes I'm even worried to have my name attached to it, but hey! I wrote some music, and now I present it to you, the listener.
