    Artist History
Born in 1902. Died in 1925 after being stabbed in a Mississippi knife-fight. Reincarnated during early 1970's in southern Louisiana, a scrypto-psychic blues prophet. Dege Legg has toured the Deep South and other parts of the U.S. in the band Santeria for the past 7 years, playing the underground gutter circuit, honing his own brand of acoustic blues/folk songs that speak to the dead, living, and non-living in tongues of strange fires and snakemeat salvation. He is also the author of the book, THE BATTLE HYMN OF THE GOOD'OLE HILLBILLY ZATAN BOYS (available from GolarWash Labs). He is currently leader of the southern, tribal hard rock band Santeria as well as a solo acoustic artist with 2 CDs; BASTARD'S BLUES (1996) AND LOVE LETTERS & SUICIDE NOTES (1999

    Press Reviews
Dege Legg has created one of the most unassuming pieces of genius that I have ever heard. The overall mood of the disc is melancholic, yet beautiful. Sad songs filled with beautiful imagery, spirit and haunting melodies. The disc is also peppered with tripped out phone messages and vocal effects, and bonus tracks that are mostly drunken jam sessions with the infamous Elron, some of which will have ou laughing your ass off. There's evena trippy casio soaked cover of Black Sabbath's "N.I.B." The soft side of Dege comes through as bold as a battle cry that has somehow found it's way out through the clenched teeth of a boy that has been told to "take it like a man". Not one thing on this CD comes off as forced or fake. Everything inspired, yet countered. Starting off with a soft voice full of the fears and doubts of a young soldier left alone in the middle of the jungle during high noon of a guerilla warfare, in no time it seems that we are listening to the brazen shouts of a bowed armed veteran spitting directly into the face of the enemies . Dege Legg is a man not afraid to curse the devil with his heart on his sleeve and his fist in the air. It's all fighting words in a war zone with a little time to stop and laugh at the absurdities of the battle.... -S.Spizola from "Santeria For The Masses" Website ?Incredible, aching melodiessung by a possessed madman.??BlueZine#9 ?..hypnotic, Robert Johnsonon Thorazine slide guitar work.?
