Artist description
GAGARAGE/ALTERNATIVE ROCK A fluid attacking side with a stationary drummer anchoring the defence. Ulf with his bass plays a free-role in midfield adding balance to the line-up, but surges into the penalty box when the chances arise. On the wings the quicksilver guitars of Petter and Tim combine flawlessly to create a seamless attack while Neil lurks in the centre looking for opportunities to entertain the punters, occassionally sticking an organ in his mouth (?!?) (err...harmonica that is) The band has always thrived on it's trademark variety making it so hard to define. Elements of lo-fi and garage rock can be heard as readily as punk, hard rock and experimental music. Through it's various phases the band has dabbled in everything from country-spagghetti-western to reggae-ska. If pressed however the band would have to concede that it is most at home in an alternative/garage rock genre. |

Artist History
Crumb was formed in 1996, originally a 4 piece when three Swedes hooked up with an Australian. Petter Sollerman was recruited to complement Tim Hammar with guitar duties in 1997 adding diversity to the sound and allowing the singer to wiggle his arse on stage a bit more. Successful gigs within the Gothenburg region followed. Eviction from their condemned rehearsal studio temporarilly took the wind out of Crumb's sails, however, the momentum was truly broken shortly after the first aborted demo when Neil went walkabout in his native Australia. During this period the band parted company with drummer Håkan Martinsson who went on to pursue his reggae/dub project Earth Connection. An Italian, Gianni Morselli was brought in to fill the gap and the quartet continued writing new material together during the first half of 1999. Neil finally made it back to Sweden, but it wasn't long before Petter made his journey to South America in search of inspiration. Upon Petter's return Crumb played a one off gig in Gothenburg before travelling up to Greenmind studios in Stockholm to record the "Walk in the Park" EP. The four tracks from this EP feature on this web-site. |
