Artist description
A kinky mix of R&B and funk, Afrique is the musical brainstorm of Fred ‘Pepe’ Johnson. In fact, he writes, produces, arranges and performs all of his music. Why ‘Afrique’? Pepe chose that name because it reflects both an African feel as well as a little something freaky. Which is exactly how Pepe feels when he’s in the Groove, and what inspires him to search for ever more unique nuances that flow and mix together into the Now, a feeling of diversity of experiences. ‘The Nuance of Now’ is a rainbow of feel-good and uplifting songs, the spirit of everyday life - It’s Pepe’s personal diary of daily dealings. It’s a prism of colors, a little kink and a lot of funk with a splash of soul that Pepe wants to share with his audience. ‘The Nuance of Now’ is Afrique’s first project though Pepe has been playing music in and outside of Los Angeles for over ten years. His debut Album, ‘The Nuance of Now’, was recorded at N.E.O.M. Studios in Los Angeles with the help of Leland Bell, Regis Bell and Dana Earvette. |
