    Artist History
Formed early in the fall of 1999 Snap Jaw has come along way from its first live show last year for halloween. Snap Jaw was originally the union of guitarist Derrick Waage and drummer Trever Ashbrook. Being long time friends helped the two founding members go in a direction that both pretty much agreed on. With the addition of singer Eric Lozo, guitarist John Orr and bass player Brian Story the band musically was now complete. The only thing left now was to come up with the name. Alot of different names crossed the bands lips before finally putting 9 names to a vote and then taking the bits and pieces to fall together to the name Snap Jaw. Working their way to studio time and a full legth C.D. has been the bands primary objective from the start. Snap Jaw released their self titled debut CD in March 2000 on S.J. Productions, an independent label. The EP which was originally put together to give out to local venues and radio stations as demos became a very high commodity among Snap Jaw fans. What started as a demo became a very hot seller at our shows. "We had only produced enough to send out to venues and radio stations, but we had to go back and make more for the audience. Every time we played we had people asking about if we had a CD for sale. So we took what we had, made more and sold every last one of em."Currently working on bringing up a new style of music to the Omaha area, Snap Jaw has been busy aquireing shows and any other chance to have someone give them a listen. Two Omaha rock stations, KIWR 89.7 "The River"and KEZO 92.3 "Z-92" have played songs from the self titled cd and will hopefully be featuring the band in live performances. "Scott Murphy of the Z92 HOMEGROWN SHOW has been great to us. I dont know if its because we just have a different style than all the other bands you hear in Omaha or if he just thinks we are nice guys. Im not sure which it is but he really gives us all the help he can. I just hope we get to meet him at one of our shows in the future and thank him in person. He is allways really giving us good plugs on the air. And I have to say that it really helps." Along with the radio debuts of their song Holy Pipe, the band has been working on setting up their website and getting back to the studio to record a full length CD. After a year of writing new material the band has over two hours of original music. "It all has a different sound. You hear alot of carbon copy bands in Omaha. We are doing something different. I cant catogarize us in any of the "genre". Im not knocking the other bands out there. But alot of em you could close your eyes listen to six different songs from six different bands and think they were all the same band. We are kind of mid stream. Not overly heavy nor soft. But when you hear one of our songs, you know its us." Snap Jaw plans on doing their studio time at The Nevada Room. A local music studio with alot of experience should lead to a good full length CD to be released sometime next spring. Live is where the band really shines. The band has become some what of a local favorite in their home town of Fremont. Playing at Blondies Underground Lounge, the band has aquired many fans in the comfortable basement club. Knickerbockers in Lincoln, The Music Box in Omaha. The Asylum and the Ranch Bowl, also in Omaha; are but a few of the venues the band has played or will be playing at in the upcoming months. Be on the look out, and if you see the name Snap Jaw on venues ad or flyer. Go to the show. You will not be disapointed.
