Artist History In the winter of 1989, "The Israelites" emerged from the city of La Cresenta, California, as a modern sounding ska band. Time passed and members changed but stillour group continues experiencing growth. By God's grace and by raw determination we have developed a popular following, especially in the Los Angeles area. Our music is a traditional ska sound with blends of jazz, motown, rocksteady, and reggae. As a ska band, audiences have refer to us as unique due to our Christian lyrics. We are all about glorifying the name of Jesus Christ. When you visit one of ourconcerts our Christian influence is quite apparent. At secular shows the message of Jesus is still clear although we tend to deliver milk for those not yet ready formeat. We have never supported the notion of cramming the Gospel down anyone's throat. The band is composed of members who are all born again and washed in blood of Christ. The Israelites are not on a quest for fame or stardom. Our vision isquite clear, to be about our Father's business and spread the Gospel or Good News to anyone who will listen. Presently, we find ourselves both in the secular skascene as well as in the Church. In the ska scene, we encounter may skinheads, skinhead girls, rude boys, rude girls, and ska enthusiasts to minister to. In Christianvenues, we find some right on people who just want to praise God, some that are lukewarm, some who re-dedicate themselves to the Lord, and also those who haveyet to hear the message. Since the time is short and the second coming of Christ is imminent we rejoice with the angels over every one who turns to the Lord andaway from sin. The time is short and the world continues to grow darker and more wicked. Satan's work is apparent everywhere. We feel the Lord compelling us tofight the good fight of faith. But our battle is unique. How many battles have had their outcome pre-determined? As children of God, our war is only part of divinelyordered destiny. For the last seven years the Lord has put us on the front lines, mainly in the southern California area. We have been in such battlefields as The Whiskey, theRoxy, World Beat Center, Hollywood Moguls, Goodies, Alligator Lounge, and many others. We have also performed at venues such as Calvary Chapel Montebello,Chino, Cypress, Committed Fellowship, Lollapaloma in San Diego, Cornerstone and Tom Fest and Azusa Pacific University to name a few. We have been honored toplay with bands and acts such as Roland Alphonso, Jump with Joey, Christafari, MXPX, Plank Eye, Rich Young Ruler, Hepcat, Big Dog Small Fence, the Supertones,Havalina, Ghoti Hook and many others. We have played live or had air play on radio stations such as KSCR(L.A.), KUCI(Irvine), KSPC(Claremont), WNUR(Chicago),WSPN(N.Y.), KFSG(Los Angeles) and others. As Christians we have to go to the feet of Jesus constantly, to be washed in His Word, and empowered by His Spirit. Each member of our band attends a Bibleteaching church. We also study the Bible at practices and pray before each appearance. Each of us also has his/her own private time seeking the Lord and His will. We know that without God we are nothing. As a group we, the Israelites, believe that we are called to spread the gospel of Christ. We believe that the Lord has empowered us to use our music (His Music).This is not merely a phase that we are going through, this is what our lives are all about. This is our life now and forever with Jesus Christ for the phase calledeternity!
