    Artist History
Singer/songwriter George Hamilton V's raw & rowdy performances have garnered rave reviews world-wide - among them, one British critic proclaims "GEORGE IS ABSOLUTE DYNAMITE!" While London's NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS says, "George V possesses a Dickel-stained voice which scrapes itself across a country tune the way his daddy never knew how".A real musical road-warrior, George has been dubbed "REBEL WITHOUT A PAUSE". His well-worn troubadour boots have taken him to Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Poland and Great Britain where the readers of one fanzine recently nominated him the "MOST PROMISING INTERNATIONAL ACT". George has appeared on the renowned stages of Britain's Wembley Arena and Cambridge Folk Festival during his 13 extensive tours of theatres, festivals and clubs throughout the U.K. since 1990. While becoming something of a household name in Britain, a hotel in the seaside town of Brighton bears his name ("The George Hamilton V Hotel").His debut CD, the critically acclaimed college-rock HOUSE OF TEARS, was produced by Mitch Easter of REM fame and yielded George V's "She Says" single (the only country single ever produced by Easter). George toured America in a beat-up Cadillac hearse (10,000 miles through 21 states in 27 days) playing the honky-tonks from Austin to Boston. His self-directed music video, "Burial Ground Of The Broken Hearted", aired on MTV. "She Says" was bulleting towards BILLBOARD MAGAZINE's 'Top 50' country charts at the time of MTM Records' demise. Features on "V" have appeared from coast-to-coast in the LOS ANGELES HERALD-EXAMINER, DENVER POST, CHICAGO TRIBUNE, THE TENNESSEAN, MIAMI NEWS, THE BOSTON GLOBE, COLLEGE MUSIC JOURNAL and BILLBOARD MAGAZINE, to name a few. George's 1995 CD release, ROLL WITH THE PUNCHES (MASSIVE,Australia), became a press & radio favorite down under - landing on many year-end 'Top Ten' lists. George V toured Australia & New Zealand headlining Queensland's mammoth Gympie Festival (65,000 in attendance) and making network television appearances on Australia's Good Morning Australia & Today shows and New Zealand's Music Television. 1996 brought the European release of George's third self-penned album, GHOST TOWN (DIXIEFROG,France)In the summer / fall, George V became the first American artist to make a NATIONWIDE 35-day tour of Poland AND the first Nashville-based artist to appear at the prestigious Festival De Lille (Lille, France). France's GUITAR & BASS magazine proclaimed: "It's been ten years since Steve Earle began; Twenty years since Rodney Crowell; Thirty years since Willie Nelson; Today it's George Hamilton V!"1997 marked the British release of GHOST TOWN with George V's ninth & tenth nationwide tours of the U.K. and a cross-country tour in the Republic of Ireland. George also made his second nationwide tour of Poland where the popularity of his television and live performances are proving his music to be an International language. By the year's end, George's "Ghost Town" music video (filmed in Mragowo, Poland) was in the 'Top 5' on CMT-Europe.1998 brought tours of England & France with further critical acclaim for George's fourth CD release, GARDEN OF LOVE (DIXIEFROG,France), about which the French GUITARIST magazine raved "PROLIFIC SONGWRITER - IMPECCABLE ALBUM!". London's EVENING STANDARD proclaimed George's music "YEE-HAW, SHIT-KICKIN'! NOT EXACTLY A CHIP OFF THAT EASY LISTENIN' BLOCK". George V's rollicking "VIVA! NASHVEGAS" song was also featured on MTV's "Road Rules All Stars" program. To quote TEXAS MONTHLY's Joe Nick Patoski, George's self-penned songs "Tell the kind of stories that make Nashville publishers drool with envy; yet they rock authoritatively with a backwoods beat that can only be created south of the Mason-Dixon line". While another reviewer simply defines George V's music as "THE POWER OF ROCK - THE PASSION OF COUNTRY".
