Bio
A simple studio project gone awry, Drive Kill or Fly began as an outlet to explore the collaboration of a diverse range of influences, then amusingly dubbed "The He-man Woman-haters, Tuesday / Thursday Night Song-writing Guild". With full disposal of a home-studio, the three founding members, Louie Scalzo - Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Steve Hottin - Guitars, and Frank Alves - Drums, embarked on an adventure full of ups and downs, delays and frustrations, just as any other group encounters. But in all cases, the chemistry prevailed.
The first glimmer came when Lou played Frank a simple, four-chord riff, while the two were performing together in a cover band. After a couple phone calls, the ADATs were fired up, and that "simple riff" was soon transformed into a song that's still regarded nearly four-years later as a favorite among the three, known as "Suffer". This set the mood for what was to follow.
Since then, the home studio has been fully converted, and Drive Kill or Fly has fine-tuned the initial chemistry a bit further. With an ever flowing "bottomless pit of words", Steve's lyrics are brought to life as Lou steps to microphone. This combined with the often aggressive, and sometimes-sensitive musical arrangements, the band's "total song" approach has yielded a list of songs that draw from nearly every human emotion. With the angst-driven "Jump 4 Me", and "The Count", and the contempt for modern society in "Christ with an Attitude", to the emotional turmoil of "Lost On You" and "Shut Down", the trio look towards their next endeavor…
Takin it to the masses.
