Artist History
Before Da Briklayaz there was The Hoodz. Created at Bethune-Cookman College this crew consisted of 3 mc's and a dancer. Crew members Blakfiya, G-Boom, Taji-Boom and RonDu performed at numerous talent shows and musical events. Being that all members are from NY and Blakfiya from the Bahamas, their up north east coast sound wasn't highly accepted by the bass music lovers at Bethune. Still, they continued to perform. After members Taji-Boom, and G-Boom transferred to other schools the group disbanded. It wasn't until RonDu & Blakfiya found themselves at Florida Atlantic University that da Briklayaz was formed. After getting a little shine in the South, Da Briklayaz are ready to move forward. Going the independent route Da Briklayaz have formed their own entertainment company and will be the first group off their label in mid 2001. Da Briklayaz set themselves apart by going against the grain. Their Carribean and underground backgrounds are evident in many of the groups material. RonDu(Jamerican) and Blakfiya(Bahamian) take advantage of hard to find reggae samples and other abstract material to use in their music giving the group their own sound and style. With songs that reach Dime pieces, street cats, and intellects, this group will definitley make a little noise in 2001. All tracks are produced by Da Briklayaz. The album will feature guest appearances by up and coming acts like the Ill Product Dos and Killa Instinct. Be on the look out for Da Brikz in 2001. They will be heard!!! |
