Artist History
Rodd is a true hip-hop artist in the tradition of world famous Queens- the same New York City borough that rapper Nas calls home. In fact, Rodd credits Nas as his inspiration. It was after the release of Nas' acclaimed Illmatic album that Rodd realized there was an audience for "next level" lyrics. The combination of lyrics that take hip-hop culture to a higher level and beats that propel such concepts are Rodd's launching platform. For the past eight years, Rodd has been honing his skills, taking all chances he gets to battle any challenger- big or small. Now, armed with an air-tight flow, scrolls upon scrolls of rhymes, and a desire to come out on top, Rodd is wasting no time and taking no prisoners. Rodd's first endeavor in the music industry was with a group of artists called Sabotage. Sabotage was an innovative group of artists featuring a live female vocalist accompanied by Rodd and his partner Steve (a.k.a. Ro Roc/Mayhem) who collaborated together on rhymes. Together, Sabotage recorded a five song demo; and the songs have a received a positive response from music industry professionals and hip-hop fans alike. In this year before the new millennium, Rodd has been making serious power moves, one of which includes recording a two song demo las tyear at New York University's Rollnick Studio with producer/engineer Adam Parness and co-producer Shennery Kaalund. The result was a finished product of two songs, "What's The Answer To Life" and "Angel," whose innovation reminds listeners of the Roots, while retaining the biting realism associated with Nas. In its entirety, Rodd's newest material invokes notions of the new era of music: many will follow where Rodd leads, since his pulse is that of the next... |
