Artist History
3SH was formed two years ago when the four
members, each cultural expatriates from their
ancestral homes, discovered a shared desire to
create winsome noises for strangers.
Lead singer Brian Ledford, a Texan and grandson
of Oklahoma Jug Band players, honed his vocal
style in Lubbock bars during the 80’s and his
affinity for self-hypnosis in the skateboard
ramps and video game parlours prevalent at that
time. Bill Champion, bass player, materialized
in the Pacific Northwest from London’s East End,
where bands like The Jam impelled him to not
simply play bass but rather project it with his
mild yet incontrovertible extra-sensory
perception. Iain McDonald hails from Australia,
where Maton Mastersound guitars grow on the
mythic billabong tree and where, as a child, he
fell under the spell of the high-decibel
imperceptibly dissonant tones that rise from the
groves there. Then there’s Chris Rees, raised in
the wilds of West England, who sees monkeys
everywhere! and, rather than let it drive him to
madness, harnesses their spirit to wreak rhythmic
havoc tempered by an Andy Partridge sensibility. |
