Artist History As a kid, Tomeka had a crazy imagination, and would always tell and write funny stories for her friends and classmates. However, she was musically influenced by her mother, a gospel vocalist and pianist, who had her daugthers sing backup and perform with her at various churches. In addition, Tomeka was influenced by her father, too, a great music appreciator and collector, whose listened to all types of music, especially Jazz. Both of her parents' styles and tastes helped Tomeka to develop her own individual style, taking cues from the various genres. Her sound encompasses her imaginative storytelling capabilities and jazzy, playful lyrics sung with underlying Soul, Pop, and R&B undertones. Additional info: Tomeka is a multiple threat: singer, songwriter, model, actress, and former MTV local stringer. She also has the experience of being a radio host/DJ. She's was one of the "12 Angry Viewers" on MTV, sang in the 'Temptations' movie on NBC, and performed at a wide variety of events. She has an album tentatively scheduled to be released in October, and she recently appeared in the movie "Wonder Boys" in which she shares screen time with Michael Douglas. Tomeka Davis possesses the star power and talent necessary to stand out in today's over crowded market. What else can be said about this young woman, except that once you hear and/or see her, you know she's destined for great things.
