Artist description
Astronomy & Space Rock Music. The Orion Syndrome is the name under which I now produce my music, as it was my performing band's name throughout the 90's. As my major influences are members of Pink Floyd, The Who, Rush, and the Moody Blues, I tend to write progressive rock; guitar & synth oriented material. The music can range from dark, brooding opuses to uplifting and hopeful pop tunes. The Moodies influence and the Pink Floyd influence are in constant battle! |

Artist History
The Orion Syndrome first appeared in the early 90's as a progressive synth & guitar based band, playing art-rock covers and originals in Orlando clubs. There were several incarnations of the band, with several talented musicians supporting my writing and sequencing. Now ressurrected as a pure writing vehicle, there is a chance to get some closure on the song works that I started in the 1995 time frame, as well as new material. During this time we had a small group of loyal friends whom, I hope, will be pleased to be able to hear the music again! |

Press Reviews
The Rush Factor / Jim Reindel: (on Weather Report): This song has a great Rush influence happening throughout. Another fine example of the many people Rush has had some influence on. But David manages to add his own unique angle to his influences to create a sound all his own. Great work! Check it out! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WBON (on Meteor Storm): All around great tune!! A lot of Pink Floyd influence!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mystic Journey: Pink Floyd Reincarnation! Awesome! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Critic's Carnival (on Waves of Time): This artist sounds much like Justin Hayward & this new track is very much reminicent of The Moody Blues. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heaven's Gate (on Hourglass): One-man Prog/Rock soundscape with a 'Moody Blues' feel throughout. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Radio C2 (on Hourglass): Stellar tune from a self-defined "Astronomy rock" band! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Subdivisions (on Hourglass): A lot of Rush influences and interesting lyrics here. Nice song from The Orion Syndrome.[Rating: 4/5] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dominic Gaudious: As you will hear in his music, Dave is an incredible electric lead player. His guitar playing and songwriting is superb. He is also a master on the Wind Synth. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
New Music & Review (on Hourglass): The gate between past and future. There is fairly obvious Rush influence throughout. Very talented artist! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Synoptic Sounds (on Astral Athlete): A cool song about what's really important in life! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Progressive Toad (on Acid Rain): When Neon Toad heard this one he ran for cover fearing he would soon be flattened by a giant pig with glowing eyes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Classic Rock Radio (on Slow Boat to Centauri): This is a thematic Classic/Progressive/Arena Rock song covering all the bases! I liked the solo breaks, the drums, the keys, everything about it. The in-your-ears vocal is nicely done too. The feedback at the end is an excellent touch. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eclectic Avenues (on The Sun Slips Away): Moody Blues inspired - I had to hear it - then had to have it on here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lycos Music: Hmm, with a name like the Orion Syndrome, do you think these guys play Progressive Rock? You bet. This band has all the goodies, including cosmic synthesizers, complex song structures and the oh-so-important astrological (sic) lyrics. |
