    Artist description
We play fast & energetic punk rock!! Our music is generally melodic and pretty catchy while still fast & thrashy. Our lyrics deal with everything from small-town life & the rascist, sexist, homophobic and apathetic attitudes that prevail in the society around us, to less serious and more amusing matters -growing up, girls, school, and all that kinda crap.
    Music Style
    Punk Rock!!!
    Musical Influences
Many things influence our music -a large part of what we are comes from living in a small town where we're constantly put down because we're the way we are -the way we look, what we're into, the music we like, etc. Musically, we're influenced by everything from fast early 80's U.S. hardcore-punk to happy melodic punk-rock kinda stuff.

    Artist History
The beginnings of Nerdlinger could probably be traced back to somewhere around Easter of 1998: After a series of regretable incidents leading up to us ultimately being in a lot of trouble with "The Man" it was more or less unanimously decided that our good ol' pastime of, well, let's call it "practical anarchy", could definitely not continue. And so, for a few months we were very very bored. And Conor moaned a lot. By the end of the Summer, Corm had eventually convinced the others that we should form a band. Since we were all into punk, 'twas obvious that we were to be a punk-rock band!! And eventually, after much deliberation, a name was chosen. And then another name. And then another name. After existing for about 2 days at a time with the "definitely not changing it again" name of [insert something crap here] for a while, Anti-Hero was chosen. And Conor moaned a bit more. Unfortunately, as time went by, we found out that there were fuckin loads of other things with the name Anti-Hero. We went on for about a year and a half with this name until, after much deliberation and bloodshed (and tea), we evertually decided on a new name -Nerdlinger! The band became a band when Eoin & Donal eventually got their shit together around December of '98 and finally got some decent instruments (we'd previously been practicing with a cigar box bass & pots and pans for drums). And so, vicious practice sessions commenced. And for a while, "practice" mainly consisted of us jumping around, shouting at each other a lot, and hitting each other (and ourselves) with our instruments. This chaotic madness was interspersed with us descending to the kitchen for tea & bickies every 5 or so minutes. As you do. This went on for a while until we were told that we were playing a gig. This came as a great shock to us. And so, with much unnecessary violence, we finally learned some of the songs that Corm had written and, along with a few Misfits covers, played the gig. Well, living in Roscommon as we do, there was nothing much to do but practice. And then practice a bit more. And then hit Conor a bit until he stopped moaning. Thus begun the story of a sound which has been described very differently by various people -we've been compared to Samiam, The Misfits, Bad Religion, Stiff Little Fingers, No Use For A Name, Green Day, Bouncing Souls, Sex Pistols, MxPx, and way too many others to mention...but ultimately, people almost always tend to agree that Nerdlinger have a sound of their own & a personality to match.

    Press Reviews
"Roscommon punk!! This is actually really good -not my usual choice of music but I liked this, it has a sound of it's own with a poppy-punk feel" -Against The Rest zine. "Musically tight and influenced by the West Coast of America punk sound. If the band can come up with choruses similar to those displayed on "My Sweet Revenge", they'll soon become a name" -Unfit For Consumption zine. "This is excellent -I liked it from the first time I heard it and it really grows on you. An essential part of anyone's collection -don't waste any more time, save up yer pennies and buy it now" -Jake's Wrath zine.
