Artist History
Greysoul formed in the auspicious springtime of the year 2000, in the middle of the desolate musical field that is the University of Michigan's campus. Brian, Jake, and Aaron had been jamming covers for awhile in the dorms with another drummer the previous year. That drummer went on to pursue his blues-rock roots and the rest of the band sat and waited for the perfect drummer to walk by, as Brian wrote a couple songs. Then, at the tail-end of the school year of 2000, one Nathan Bonfiglio was picked up from the Ann Arbor pop sensation the Bottle Prophets. After 3 legitimate practices the band played their first gig, the Annual Cross St. End of the Year Block Party Bash, performing two originals and two covers. The summer saw the band go their seperate ways: Joaqin to Tijuana, Aaron to Holland, Jake to Germany, and Brian back to good ole Rochester, MI. In the fall they rejoined and started playing some of the originals Brian had written over the summer. After months of practicing and a couple gigs, Greysoul got on one of the locals shows at the infamous Harpo's. After that great gig the promoter put them on the Cryptopsy bill. Before that show they also opened for Shadows Fall/Amen. At the end of the school year the band returned to the Cross St. festival and slayed the audience at dusk, letting everyone know that Ann Arbor death metal had taken root. Once again, the band went their seperate ways: Joaquin to Tijuana, Aaron to Holland, Jake to Rochester, and Nate finally graduated and left for his top-secret career in Washington DC, but not before recording a 7-song album to mark their achievement. The soon-to-be-released EP will stand as a mark of achievement until the twian shall meet again... |
