Artist History
Strydir Lee was founded by singer/songwriter Nick Leyland and drummer Jon Wilson in early 1998. At the time Nick was playing with a band called Midle Earth. The band's drummer was unable to play a particular gig, so they called upon Jon Wilson to fill in. Jon played the gig with the Middle Earth and immediatley the jazz/pop influences that Jon brought to the band inspired Nick to break off and work with Jon to create a new and unique sound. After a few months of playing together, and working out ideas, Nick and Jon were joined by lead guitarist Ron Deilman. Eventually, then bassist, Dave peters was added, and the core of Strydir Lee was formed. After the break up of the band Waterfield in 1999, Seth Porter and Mike Kim were added creating the pattented Strydir Lee sound. Strydir Lee, in it's current state, is a group with a unique sound that blends elements of rock, funk, blues, and jazz. Nick Leyand is a prolific songwriter and provides the majority of the band's material, although significant writing contributions have been made by all band members. The group can be seen performing at various venues around the Toledo area as well as at universities and clubs throughout the Midwest. |
