Artist description
Combining electronic and acoustic influences, Sonicjoy is more than just a band, it is an experience. Their high-energy live show electrifies the stage and gets the crowd moving to their electro-rock riffs.
Tribal dance grooves. Delerium’s ethereal sweetness meets the Tea Party’s middle-eastern rock. Sonicjoy blends electronica trance vibes with African beats and thumping bass lines that make you want to move. Built around the powerful lyrics and vocals of Joyelle Brandt, and featuring a global collection of instruments, Sonicjoy incorporates everything from tabla to snake charmer to djembe. Sam Ryan brings his talents as musician, producer and co-writer to this exciting new project.
Sonicjoy has performed to packed dance floors in their hometown of Vancouver, BC in venues such as the Media Club and Sonar. In the next year the duo of Brandt and Ryan will be taking their act on the road, touring the Pacific Northwest.
Sonicjoy’s debut EP Sanctuary has been enthusiastically received by the musical community, resulting in musical collaborations with Norwegian group Amethystium and U.S. electronica duo Positively Dark. Sonicjoy is currently recording their debut full-length CD, which will be released January 2003. |
