Artist description
JEZEBEL RED is dark, dynamic electronica-rock. A NYC band fronted by Jezebel Zern, singer/songwriter, and Stephen "Groovilicious" Tjaden, musician/songwriter. Their music has been called an "alterna-tronic mindf*ck"--a sometimes dark, sometimes frenetic, always melodic concoction of Zern's provocative and candid lyrics and Tjaden's electro/organic sound--sequencing supported by live cello, bass, guitar, and organ. |

Artist History
Jezebel, a trained jazz vocalist who's been called "the secret love child of Julie London and Chuck D" (The New York Press - 9/96), was frontwoman of the now-defunct NYC hip-hop/rock band D-CUP. Stephen Tjaden, an Oberlin graduate with a degree in classical music, was previously known as the one-man acid-jazz band Groovilicious, releasing two CDs on New Breed in the mid-'90s and appearing on several compilations and film soundtracks. His engineering credits include work with Billy Idol, Al DiMeola and Kraftwerk, among others. Jez and Stephen have been collaborating since 1998 and are currently playing the tri-state club circuit with guitarist Andrew Falk and sampler/DJ Love "Short Circuit" Ablan. |
