Artist History
Hollow is often called an alternative rock band and that is probably the best description of their unique blend of rock, funk, blues, grunge, acoustic, and reggae music styles. Hollow has definitely created a modern style and sound that is all their own. Hollow's music library includes something for most musical tastes.Founded in 1997, Hollow spent a couple of years establishing itself in the Austin/ San Antonio area music scene. Known from the beginning as a hard working band, Hollow's relentless promoting has provided them with a fan base that has never stopped growing. "We're about having a whole show that makes an audience have a good time. You can't always just play music and entertain people, it can take so much more to get someone's attention and make them enjoy themselves," states Christian the band's frontman. In the winter of 1999 Hollow's first single "Dim" became a regular addition to local radio stations playlists. Hollow also began to establish itself in a larger region, maintaining regular gigs throughout Texas and Louisiana. Their second single "Again" found Hollow airplay all the way in California on KAZU 90.3. Hollow has shared the bill with many regional and national acts from Texas like : Chris Duarte, Soulhat, and The Nixons.Within the first month of the year 2000, Hollow had returned to BGM Studios and begun work on their second effort "Better Daze". After the first couple of sessions, a new single was released from the forthcoming album. "In Better Days" landed Hollow inside the legendary KLBJ radio station in Austin. The new song launched Hollow from the local show up to a prime time interview and promotion for that night's 6th street show. Hollow has been successful in winning over many different types of crowds. Mixing guitar rock with funk and blues makes Hollow's live set so engaging to see. "We like songs that have a groove to them, so that the crowd can catch the beat and move along" says Daniel. |
