Press Reviews
Grizzly/Random "Tooth Knocka/Rolling 303" 12" "4 out of 5" Bpm Culture (October 2000.)From LA’s hard working Jungle Voodoo collective comes the self-titled album from DJ and Producer Grizzly. He’s come up with just the right idea to make a good impression by producing an album full of tough material and mixing it all together seamlessly. The amens are present, as well as the crunchy drums and dirty basslines that make up the best of the drum ‘n bass sound. Grizzly’s tracks will tear apart your speakers and blast your ears with plenty of power; there are also some nice breakdowns mellow interludes that will give your mind a chance to rest and prepare itself for the next assault. Some of the standout tracks are the Asian influenced Afgani Triplets, the rolling, mettalic texture of Kill the Upper Class (“Fuck you and the Range Rover you rode in on. Go drown in a lake of diet coke you fucka!”)–Ouch! And my personal favorite, Tooth Knocka; a fast and furious rattler that will make those fillings pop out. Go to www.junglevoodoo.com for more info on Grizzly and the rest of what jungle Voodoo has to offer. (Blips) Bpm Culture/djmixed.com Feb. 2001 I would go so far as to say that this is one of the best drum n bass tracks to hit my ears lately. this is one of the few tunes that, in my opinion, challenges the guys up there that are making 6 figures in studios like metalheadz. quite original. if this is coming from an independent producer, well then that expands my outlook on the dance music scene forever.
