    Artist History
Deacon Artis LeSane manager of the MIGHTY ECHOES for thirty four years, was the son of the late Willie and Anna LeSane of Bladen County, N.C. In 1943 he married Susan Saulters, they were blessed with eleven children and fifty-two years of happiness before his demise January 29,1995. Before assuming manager of The MIGHTY ECHOES, Deacon LeSane was assistant manager to Deacon Alexander Kelly who managed the Zion Gospel Singers. In this group he sang and played the guitar for many years. After other obligations and commitments, the previous group members changed and Deacon LeSane became Manager of the group known as The Mighty Echoes of Elizabethtown, N.C. Along with his brother Daniel known as "Bobby" who was the assistant manager and lead singer in the group, they started a legend of gospel family music. Deacon LeSane no longer played his guitar in the group but he continued to play for his family instilling a love of music within them that led to his sons becoming a part of The Group. His hard and dedicated work each week, along with his brother, sons, nephews and family friends made The Mighty Echoes a solid group with their own special style of singing gospel music. He taught The Group to place God first, press on, have respect, share with each other and always listen, that is the way you learn. Deacon LeSane and his brother Bobby, shared a vision and dream that The Mighty Echoes would be known as the top group within Bladen, Columbus and surrounding counties of North and South Carolina. For The Mighty Echoes anniversaries, he brought in world renowned gospel groups and shared the stage with numerous groups. Under his leadership, The Mighty Echoes began to travel beyond the surrounding North and South Carolina counties to Kentucky, West Virginia, Chicago, Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. The Group also started to record their music, what a happy and satisfying time for him. Not everyone can be a leader, but Deacon Artis LeSane was truly a leader. His words and character will remain with you forever. He was a devoted husband, father, Deacon, church member and Manager; he never met a stranger. He could just walk in and speak without a moment's notice to a crowd. His wife, two sons, three daughters, three daughter-in-laws, one son-in-law, and eight grandchildren survive Deacon LeSane. He was known throughout Bladen and Columbus County. It was such a loss to his family and The Mighty Echoes when he went to be by his Savior's Side knowing that God Still Loved him because He First Loved Him and he knew The Lord would remember him. As he would always say to his boys David, Harvey, Danny, Bobby, Ross, Terry, Craig, and Melvin, remember my teaching and my love for you has no boundaries, sing on.
