Artist History
Belfast political punks Stiff Little Fingers began as exciting sloganeers, led by raw-voiced singer/guitarist Jake Burns. SLF's debut, Inflammable Material, includes such classic protest punk as "Suspect Device," "Alternative Ulster" and "Wasted Life". The LP is generally regarded as a classic punk LP, its UK chart success was the spark that set off a second wave of new bands like the Ruts and Undertones. Cut to 20 years later, and here is Stiff Little Fingers, somehow still with us. Now only singer/leader Jake Burns remains. But for the last several years, he's had the company of ex-Jam bassist Bruce Foxton, so they've retained the essence of that explosive 1979 time. --Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover |

Press Reviews
"A revamped, polished Stiff Little Fingers has replaced anger with optimism in a quest for relevence. Stiff Little Fingers exploded onto the punk scene back in 1978 as an angry young band. Hailing from war-weary Northern Ireland, the politically charged group mined songwriting ideas buried in its own backyard. Bold anthems including 'Alternative Ulster' and 'Suspect Device' rang out with a raw edge of desperation. Today, that youthful, rebellious spirit has been slightly temptered by a bit of optimism....Most of SLF's signature sociopolitcal declarations have given way to a more personal and hopeful tone." --John Roos, Los Angeles Times |
