    Artist History
Ottawa's favorite genre blending groove masters, LOVENBODYPARTS was conceived in the summer of 1997, when singer and guitar player Radji Millette met studio engineer Sean Hart and they hatched a plan to manifest their own blend of rock and electronica. The boys eagerly experimented with their ideas and their toys for a few months and crafted several original songs. Not inclined to stay in the basement long, LOVENBODYPARTS played their first live show at Ottawa's legendary underground club The Cave. In a live setting, the music took on a life of its own. The boys found themselves blending the beat into the dancers, meeting the energy of the crowd with a wall of electronic drums and samples, weaving in some 303-tweaked noises along with some smooth vocals, and punctuating this chaotic creation with some cosmic guitar tones. The sound of LOVENBODYPARTS is often described as hybrid of rock and techno that has matured into a style similar to the Chemical Brothers or Prodigy. They realized they were on to something… Since that night, the boys have worked diligently in the studio and on stage to master their creation. LOVENBODYPARTS has played to packed houses in popular Ottawa clubs like Babylon, Zaphods, Barrymores and Mercury Lounge and has ventured further afield, playing shows in Kingston and Montreal. Denizens of Ottawa's nightlife will also recognize the electronic duo from many local underground and mainstream raves. In the recent months, LNBP has added a percussionist Phil Mailey and emcee Sam Enright to the line up. The new members have brought a new look and a new dynamic to the sound of LOVENBODYPARTS. Since the release of their CD FLEX last June 2002, LNBP has been playing shows every 6-8 weeks while drawing crowds of +200. A strong fan base has been well established in the Ottawa area. The fans helped the boys recently place 1st in the preliminary round for Emergenza, an international band contest takin part in over 40 countries. The EP-length FLEX features five fresh tunes, including 2 remixes crafted and contributed by local DJs Brad Copeland and Andrew Matsubara (DJ K). When seeing them perform live, expect to see an intense performance, and plan for a full night of dancing while the boys keep the dance floor coated in fresh grooves. Appreciative audiences have supported the band by buying earlier demo-length CDs in large numbers, and above all by dancing their asses off and becoming one with the groove. New and familiar faces are treated to an ever-evolving live experience that often features guest musicians, spectacular visuals, dancers and light shows.

There was a time when "alternative" truly meant alternative. An appropriate term for its time, it housed all things non-mainstream, yet was considered to be on the cutting edge. We all now know that "alternative" is virtually dead. However, the concept of alternative is still vibrant. So where do we look for music that boldly makes new inroads ? The answer for the new millennium is LOVENBODYPARTS. Under the umbrella of electronica, this brave new band has broken down, and then reconstructed, to fit their own musical agenda, elements of techno, jungle and electro pop.
