Artist History
Noise Therapy began as the brainchild of bassist Rob Thiessen who had amassed a records worth of material and sought to inject the Vancouver scene with some fresh ideas and put on a crazy live show. After meeting Kai Markus (guitar) at a liquor store Rob called drummer Oscar who was playing in L.A. and convinced him to join the band. A short time later, the lineup was solidified with the addition of Dave Ottoson and most recently James Fonnyadt who comes to NT from a strange origin. Noise Therapy soon built up a following in Vancouver and were quickly getting a reputation for their killer live show. A couple of U.S. & Canadian tours later and after releasing and independent CD, the band caught the attention of producer Mike Plotnikoff (Aerosmith, Cranberries, INXS, etc.) who then hooked them up with the tandem of producer Bruce Fairbairn & manager Bruce Allen. With the support from these three along with management, radio, and MuchMusic, the band continued to tour, creating a buzz in Canada & the U.S., which then led them to signing a record deal with L.A. based A&M records. The Cyclops E.P. was NT's first major label release and was an instant success for the band in Canada and the U.S.. The EP spawned two singles & videos for "Loser Magnet" & "Down" both of which charted on radio in both countries as well as "Down" being added to E.A. Sports NHL '99. More touring followed & as momentum continued the full-length album "Myton Lowrider" was released and immediately received heavy radio & video rotation with the first single After still another club tour NT landed the opening slot on Motley Crue's 34 date comeback arena tour of North America. The response to Noise Therapy's set was totally amazing and the band finished the tour with renewed energy after a blistering performance in their hometown of Vancouver. In addition to Motley Crue, Noise Therapy have also toured and played with Marilyn Manson, Filter, Clutch, Brother Cane, Fear Factory, Finger Eleven, Slayer, Fuel and many others. Hard-driving, killer grooving, pogo-dance music has been used to try to describe the band's sound but the one thing is clear, the band is an event unto it's own and the only real way to understand their sound is to experience it for yourself. |
