Artist description
In the summer of 99, Allen returned to Europe to start End of April together with Otto and Allard. Within one month, EOA played their first 5 shows supporting SPERMBIRDS (stealing Markus in the process) and played spotted shows in Germany and Holland, sharing stages with the likes of I AGAINST I, DOWNFORCE and NRA. During that time Martijn joined the band.EOA started 2000 with the recording of IN YOUR ARMS...LIKE CHAINS, their debut 6 track demo. Choosing to record at Yland studios, they spent a 4 days putting their post-hardcore/e-mo/punk/rock to tape.Musically, EOA combines the chug of metal with the fury of punkrock and ties it all together with the honesty and release of hardcore. They have been compared to Helmet, Limp Biskit, Barry White and Sick of it All and vocally leaning more towards the likes of Grade/Deftones/Slipknot style. But, as with all bands, you have to hear them and make the comparisons for yourself. By yourself. |

Artist History
Consisting of members of SPERMBIRDS, STARFISH and X members of HEADCRASH, End of April have accomplished so much in little time that it is hard to believe that they have only been together for a short six months....The inspiration behind EOA started on a plane to America, at the end of april 99. After cutting off all ties with his bands, his girlfriend and his stress, slightly depressend and wondering what the world would throw at him, Allen decided to return to the States. A good friend slipped a note in his bag to let him know that she believed in him and that it was the right decision to leave and start all over again. At the end of the note it read: the end of April, 1999. Struck by the contents of the note he started to think of what he had and... had taken for granted for so long.Allen decided that End of April would be the name of his next band.More inspiration behind EOA started in Amsterdam, at the end of april 1999.Allard and Otto lost their best friend, named Toine. Over the years they shared experiences, laughs, tears and more laughter, developing the kind of friendship very rarely seen, and almost never felt. In the middle of april 99, Toine committed suicide. The time that followed was spent soul searching, looking for a reason, any reason to keep on going. For themselves, for their friends, for music...For Toine. |
