Artist description Arguably one of the first VIRTUAL GROUPS (VGs). Starting in the early 60's and continuing to the presentin one form or another covering a broad range of music genre; the basic focus was creation of music as spontaneous as possible, stream of consciousness, almost always "first takes". Though the players varied (some of the musicians were famous) the framework was constant. The VG participation was/is strictly voluntary. The spontaneity could get extreme such as substituting (VIs) virtual instruments (vocal imitations of instruments when the actual instrument wasn't available) the concept being get the creation ASAP it cant wait for refinements and leave it alone once recorded. The VG (referred to in the first days as "Ghost Group") recorded the music whenever the composer had "Creatives" to discuss. This usually resulted in some sort of "party/session" get together, with whoever of the VG was available along with close friends, at locations from the Malibu hills overlooking the ocean to the beautiful canyons of California and Arizona. Needless to say the efforts of the VG had nothing to do with the classic "Business of Music" of the day (i.e. to quote artists "nothing too new", etc. etc.). The songs were recorded on everything from Pro Digital and Analog Home Studio equipment to Pro Portable equipment on location recording (including in a moving car "Gateways" ). For many of the songs modified instruments were used. In some cases sessions were years apart. You are hearing these CDs for the first time thanks to MP3.COM. The songs come from sessions of the early 60's through the years to 1999. The next session is planned for 2002.
