Artist History
Of British origin, Sir Reginald showed outstanding artistic aptitudes from a very early age. He studied at the Conservatories of Geneva, Switzerland, and Trieste, Italy, as well as in other parts of Europe and in Canada. Among his teachers were renowned figures, such as Nicolaï Gedda (Stockholm), Leopold Simoneau (Victoria, B.C), Georges Thill (France), Yva Barthélémy (Paris), Gianni Giaia (Rome). A unanimously awarded first prize in piano, as well as a singing medal, initially encouraged him to embark upon a career as a tenor. At the Opera of Lyons, France (1981), he sang the role of the first officer in "Die Soldaten" (directed by Ken Russel and conducted by Serge Baudo). He also participated in productions such as "Iphigénie en Tauride" (conductor: J-E. Gardiner) or "Phèdre" of Charpentier (directed by Bob Wilson and conducted by Michel Corboz). During the 1983-84 season, he was in residence at the "Atelier Lyrique du Rhin" (Colmar, France) where he sang the role of Hippolyte in "Hippolyte et Arricie" (conductor: William Christie) and the title role of "Robert le Diable" by the Moroccan composer Ahmed Essyad. These productions went on tour and were recorded by "Radio-France" and the French TV channel "France 3". At the "Théâtre Municipal de Lausanne" (Switzerland), he sang the role of "Le Suivant de l'Amour" from "Hippolyte et Arricie" (conducted by J-C. Malgoire and directed by Bruno-Leonardo Pizzi). He also interpreted Alfred in "Die Fledermaus" (Fribourg, Switzerland), the "Chaplain" in "Le Dialogue des Carmélites" (Bourg-en-Bresse, France), "King Arthur" (Purcell) at the "Octogone of Pully" (Switzerland) and at the "Auditorium of Palma de Mallorca" (Spain). Moreover, he has appeared as a soloist in numerous concerts throughout Europe (from baroque repertoire, cantatas, Bach Evangelists, Handel, Mozart, Britten, etc. + the music of Broadway), including " L'Enfant et les sortilèges " (Ravel) or "Les évocations" (Roussel), both conducted by Armin Jordan. In cinema, he sang the leading role of Francis Reusser's opera-film "Jacques et Françoise", inspired by the opera of Carlo Boller: "Le pauvre Jacques" (film and compact disc). Moreover he was in charge of the vocal casting, conducting the recording of vocal soloists, and supervising playback. In addition to his activities as a performer, he taught singing at the Conservatory of Sion, Switzerland, from 1986 to 1991, before devoting himself to the task of a phonatory reconversion required by the unexpected discovery of his real register. The same year, he appeared on a radio-TV tour in New Caledonia with RFO channel... as a baritone. He has worked as a pianist for the ballet of the Grand-Théâtre of Geneva, the ballet of the Opéra de Lyon (including a tour in Spain), as well as a pianist-accompanist or soloist for classical radio recordings, concerts, and for the Chilean singer Patricio Manns (records, TV shows) as well as for the Swiss TV channels. He was also co-director of the GENEVA OPERA CLUB (1992-93), a non-profit organization, whose primary goal was to promote the lyric arts by means of concerts, which were organized regularly to provide a starting-point for budding talented singers. Being open to a certain holistic approach, both philosophically and artistically speaking, he has written and composed about fifty songs, music for films, etc. He is also completing a book on Dr. Edward Bach, while simultaneously teaching his original therapeutic approach (known as "Dr. Bach Flower Therapy") through newspaper articles, radio broadcasts (Radio Suisse Romande), seminars and lectures, among which were two conferences at the University of Geneva, under the auspices of Professor Jean Ziegler: "Sociology of Nutrition and Alternative Therapies", as well as on several occasions for the prestigious cultural association "L’Artimon".With his excellent knowledge of English, French and Italian (as well as German and Spanish), he has translated biographies and commentaries for opera compact discs under contract with the "Migros-Genossenschaft-Bund, Musikszene Schweiz / Klassik". Moreover, he studied Russian phonetics with Maroussia Orlov Le Mac'Hadour and has had training in "ballet-jazz-dance". |

Press Reviews
A letter from Mother Teresa : Dear M. Reginald, Thank you very much for your beautiful gift ! I am sure it expresses the love you have for God and for His poor. Keep the joy of loving through sharing. God love you and bless you as you reach out to many hearts to comfort them through your music. Let us continue to work, making Jesus loved, known and cared for, more each day, in each other and in His poor. Let us pray. GOD BLESS YOU. Mother Teresa, Calcutta (India) __________ Another message, coming here from Arlette Mazliah, Founder and President of l'Artimon (Geneva, Switzerland):I cannot find the words to describe how I feel about the beauty of these chants ; it is absolutely sublime; it is another world; it is music which transports; it is angelical. |
