Artist description
DAM produces an eclectic sound forged from a casual perspective. I use dense arrangements of both full synths and pseudo-acoustic instrumentation, especially piano and winds. You'll hear interlaced quirky melodic figures building and falling over upbeat rhythms and unusual drum styles. What a mouthful. Lyrically, Murray skews toward an ethereal romantic, the songs have a slightly sarcastic yet serendipitous tone. Don't take this too seriously. Please listen for the ideas and forgive me the technical drawbacks of limited time and funds. ENJOY LIFE. |

Artist History
Since I was about 12 I had these little ditties ringing in my head back in South Jersey. Honked a bari sax all through high school trying to drown out the ditties. Moved to the west coast to be a songwriter (and eat my parents food.)Studied Composition at Cal State Fullerton for 3 years then decided to mainstream into the world of hardware cause Bach wasn't gonna put bread on the table, or give me dental coverage. In 1997 I purchased a used Roland PMA-5 personal music assistant and the ditties started pouring out. Can't stop the leak now. In 1999 I bought a Tascam 424MkII and a Digitech S-100 processor (songs prior to that courtesy of an Aiwa home stereo!) This opened up the ability to add multiple vocals and on rare occasions a tenor sax. I also discovered what reverb and chorus can do for my voice and arrangements, but I've yet to master that delicate skill. I hope to open up my palette of sounds and expressiveness later this year with a full blown workstation, the brand of which is still up for debate. (Korg Triton, perhaps?)I welcome any and all feedback that will enable me to better utilize the gear I have to better results. 2 years ago, I promised my brother on the east coast a tape. 2 years later, it took 8 weeks out of work with neck surgery for me to pull all my songs together and finally send the poor guy a tape. Thus was born "What Did U Expect?" **Special Thanks to my Bud, Jesse Richter, for mastering and file conversions! Hey, his disc was bigger than mine! |
