Artist History El Gorgonzola started as a guitarplayer when he was about 10. Quite soon he decided that he was gonna focus on rock'n roll. The roots of the Gorgonzola RockaRolla. After that there have been "The PJ Rockers", "The Barking Bulldogs". And plenty of bands in between, coz El Gorgonzola was already 19 at the time of the Barking Bulldogs. The bands have had several line ups, usually with electric guitar, bass, drums, but also sometimes with a banjo, or a hammond organ. But always it was rock'n roll that was played. Even in the dull disco days in the 80's. El Gorgonzola has known a long tradition of not being successful. He joined in '96 a band; SEMTEX, one of the early bands on MP3.com, of which the lead singer was previously lead singer of the Barking Bulldogs. Quite a big achievement for somebody who can't sing at all. Semtex exploded after a big fight between El Gorgonzola and his royal evilness RA, who remained in Semtex as the only band member. After that history has been rewritten and there is no evidence left that El Gorgonzola was ever in Semtex. Which is fine by El Gorgonzola coz Semtex stuff is really really bad. Anyway, Semtex being a sad excuse for a band, it was the first opportunity for El Gorgonzola to explore the possibilities for home recording, and being an internet band. In '97 El Gorgonzola joined the heavy metal band "the Quest". A band , also in all sorts of trouble all the time with singers quitting and drummers quitting, but also a band that actually gigged. After the last singer left the Quest decided that all singing was gonna be done by El Gorgonzola and El Lumberjacko, the bassplayer. By then the Quest was no longer a heavy metal band, but a party band, with a lot of Gorgonzola RockaRolla. After El Gorgonzolas 10 year relationship with his girlfriend ended in '99. He decided that no longer he was gonna do what everybody expected from him. He sold his house and spent all his money on musical instruments and recording equipment. To build the Gorgonzola Studios. Where all Gorgonzola RockaRolla is recorded. Lots of the Gorgonzola RockaRolla is in the tradition of the Shadows, the Ventures and the Treble Spankers, the so called "Surf" genre. But that's not all, there are all sorts of influences like punk, dance, reggea, britpop , stuff like that. Sometimes The Gorgonzolas are a one man band, sometimes it's 2 or 3 men. Lots of the time of El Gorgonzola was spent on getting traffic to mp3.com , where the music of the Gorgonzolas was downloaded almost 40.000 times. At the moment El Gorgonzola is focusing on the music, and on getting a solid web presence with the site www.gorgonzola.nl. End 2001:The Quest, as we know it, does not longer exist. So now there is only the Gorgonzolas. The bassplayer got a daughter and sold his fantastic Marshall bass amp and guitar and bought a STUPID KEYBOARD ! Can you believe it ? it's true. The drummer ? hell , he bought a house, very exciting , quite a reason to stop drumming. Anyways, it sucks. The Quest. However the Gorgonzolas are still up and running.
