Artist description Sugarcoat is an original funk band dedicated to introducing new ideas to the ever evolving funk scene. Old school influences, such as Parliament, James Brown, The Meters, and Stevie Wonder, coupled with more recent flavorings from hip-hop, r&b, and ambient genres, have been infused to create an altogether unique sound. Sugarcoat is wowing audiences throughout New England, and establishing a solid presence throughout the scene.The project itself is comprised of Boston’s finest and funkiest. SUGARCOAT boasts a 7 piece band in addition to one female vocalist.

Group Members KOURTNI DANNER (VOCALIST) is our sassy guide through the sweet and tasty land of Sugarcoat. Truly a diva in her own right, Kourtni brings a smooth yet powerful vocal approach, along with an enormous stage presence, to the Sugarcoat live show. Kourtni has graced the stage with The Heavy Metal Horns and collaborated with various national and local talents.DAVID LADONE (DRUMS, VOCALS) puts it through the floor like no other. Old ElDone supplies the big, hip-hop induced beats to the mix, to provide the big ass backbone of the Sugarcoat sound. David has previously been involved in a host of original projects based in CT and MA. Treat David to a Colt 45 the next time you see him.TIM NICKERSON (BASS) is the master of the low end theory. Tim provides the thick bassy yang to the ying of Old ElDone's ball-bustin' beats. Tim's deep lines and unstoppable feel ever enhance the overall grove. Tim is a former member of the funk-rap legends, Fat Bag. Ask Tim why we call him Weezie Streaks.COLIN GENTLE (GUITAR, VOCALS) adds the shooka-shooka-shim punch and rid'm that rounds out the foundation. His guitar stylings lend an old school tone and feel. A sucker for the hook, Colin strives for creating a sound which weaves through the sonic textures and keeps things cookin'. Colin is a former member and current supporter of The Erl Shibe Five, Hi-Fi Players, Four Piece Easy, and Six Piece Nastee. May it be known that Colin is Boston's most available bachelor.DAVID CONE-GORHAM (KEYS) plays an instrumental part (no pun intended) in the overall sound and definition of Sugarcoat. His feel for the instrument, unique stylings, and writing ability have truly defined the Sugarcoat sound. David has previously performed with Bobbafat and EKG. And may it be known, that David wears his shiny shirts like no other.STEVE MORELL (TENOR SAX) is as dirty as they come. Steve's tone, feel, and ear make this cat one of the most sought after tenor players in land. Steve strives to woo everyone in earshot with his unstoppable, irresistible, catchy lines. Steve has played in various original projects throughout MA. We prefer to call his instrument the SEXOPHONE.KEVIN WILLIAMS (TROMBONE, FLUTE) is a true Lady's Man. Kevin is an acclaimed 'bone player, Berklee student, teacher, and funky ass musician. It doesn't hurt that this boy can kick it on flute as well. It's known in our circles as his 'man pipe'.BEN PAILLE (TRUMPET) (Berklee prodigy, top performing Trumpet player as a Freshman). Don't be fooled by those baby blue eyes, this boy's dirty!
