    Artist description
"Ambient atmospheres, aggressive, moody, dark, dramatic, lush vocals...Truly pure darkwave...a synthesis of gothic and industrial from the fringe of New York City's underground. This pairing of musical production/DJ and 'live' performance talent has produced a remarkable self-produced collection of classic gothic tunes by a duo to keep an eye on...Final word: Gothic...and you will love it." -R.G.Giger (http://loopzine.tv/)

    Artist History
For over a decade, Bilian Frost (a.k.a. DJ B1L14N), has been injecting the New York underground with the best of industrial, electro and darkwave music. Bilian's DJ and musical talents have been featured at several of New York's best underground venues including: Detour, Nostradamus, Smashlight, Screw (hosted by Bilian himself), Mesh, and Voodoo to name a few. Along with his many DJ gigs, Bilian has also created a history of musical projects such as Christ Cage and Eyebol and is widely known for his dynamically creative stage presence and aggressive expression. Bilian is currently involved in promotions with both Nomenclature and Carved Insane, (his electro-industrial solo project), as well as continuing musical productions for future releases. Ron Shecker and his previous gothic-rock band, Bell Book and Candle, enjoyed success internationally by being featured on several Cleopatra compilations, as well as locally with live shows at some of NY's best underground venues.

"Nomenclature was formed from the shattered remnants of the Long Island goth/industrial scene. DJ Bilian has spun at almost every known club from the last decade: Nostradamus, Voodoo, Detour, Mesh, Smashlight and Screw. Ron Schecker was formerly in the now defunct Bell Book and Candle. They have collaborated together to present Nomenclature…the best new goth band to come out of Long Island since, well… ever. Storms In Time is the first full-length CD for the duo, featuring five studio and three live tracks. Although Bilian was mostly known as an industrial DJ, and this CD does have some heavy electronic elements, it is definitely more gothic in feel and texture. Incredibly, Storms In Time is self-recorded and produced. When you hear the production value, you’ll see how big a deal that is. The songs, while not being especially aggressive, are very moody and dramatic. The manipulation of Bilian’s vocals creates an eerie effect that lends a lot to the sound. Musically, the songs vary from almost ambient, such as ‘One Day’, to slow, driving beats, such as ‘In The Dark’, to slow piano ballads, such as ‘Misery’s Forgotten Son’. The strongest track in my opinion is ‘Washing Wounds, which definitely reflects Bilian’s industrial roots and is probably the best bet for a club single, and the goth rock ‘Unreal’, the most aggressive song on the CD…Overall, I highly recommend Nomenclature for people into gothic and slower industrial/electronica.” – (Ed Johnson- The Inside Connection music industry magazine, Jan. 2001)......................................................................................................'Storms In Time' is certainly a nomenclature of sorts. It is a very experimental gothic arrangement featuring haunting rhythms, chilling harmonies, possessed vocals and other disturbing sounds accompanied by addictive dance beats that lure the listener into its nightmarish world. "I feel the music is most relevant to the audiences who attend the places where it was conceived... The gothic and industrial night clubs,” says co-founder, Bilian Frost, “The band has always been involved one way or another with these genres. Guitarist Darren Danahy, introduced me to the music of bands like Skinny Puppy and Joy Division when I was sixteen. We started a goth band in my West Babylon high school called Funeral Party, where we won both first-place prizes (best band and best overall performance) in a talent contest with covers of The Cure and Ministry. I began to DJ at several goth-industrial clubs where I met the other members of the band. Ron Schecker played synths in a goth band called Bell, Book and Candle who opened for Nomenclature at CBGB’s gallery in New York City before he joined up. It’s impossible to not be influenced by all of this in our writing, though we’re careful to try and keep the songs as honest as possible and not let the fashion of the genres overrule the essence of the music.” Nomenclature grew within the New York Underground scene, bringing its dark electro/dance music to the gothic loyalists for years. Bilian Frost and Ron Schecker first put together Nomenclature as a side project and has since evolved into a revolutionary album that blends gothic rock with techno/dance music. “Nomenclature always strives to create original sounding music which we believe makes our style unique,” explains Frost, “It’s commonly known that every band displays hints of their musical influences in their technique and approach, that is a natural phenomenon in music. However, it seems as if many bands today don’t take the time to edit themselves, either by releasing their music too quickly or wanting to fit easily into a specific genre. This usually results in a lot of bands sounding alike, or not sounding up to their potential, both of which leads to music that is less than exciting. ”One thing for sure is that Nomenclature does have a very unique and original style that is as eerie as it is exciting. It has a darkness that adds a dramatic edge to it’s melodic and hypnotic sound. “As a young fan of dark-sounding music, I found comfort in knowing that there were artists dealing with problems similar to my own. There was this inspiring sense of hope in hearing all that negativity turned into a beautiful entity that had achieved to make it into people’s record collections. There were many times that I would choose to blast those records, piss-off my neighbors and enjoy the release of that, rather than to contain the negativity I was feeling or to succumb to it by doing something self-destructive. ”Overall, this is a tight musical production that is jammed with mythical harmonies, emotional lyrics, lurching rhythms and chilling melodies. It would be a perfect soundtrack for The Exorcist or The Omen and surely connects perfectly with the gothic underworld. – (Don Sill, Good Times Magazine issue #798 Nov.2000).............................................................................................................................................................................."At the break of a new millennium, a new, yet ageless band is breaking through the cold and rigid New York underground. The name of this band is Nomenclature, and their sound is an eclectic and allegorical harmonization of emotional lyrical content and melodic instrumentation. The musical intelligence behind Nomenclature is credited to Bilian Frost (vocals, bass, guitars, percussion and programming) and Ron Schecker (keyboards and vocals) with additional backing from Gerard Young (backing vocals)and D. Douglas Danahy (guitar, guitar synth) on selected tracks. The eclectic sounds of their first release, 'Storms in Time', combine Goth/Rock and Electro/Dance influences with mythical harmonies and timeless emotion. Reaching out as a rope to our inner thoughts with powerfully building chords and raw climactic notes, 'Storms in Time' gives the listener an epic of songs in which each touch on the most fragile characteristics of nature, those that shape and destroy the human persona." - (Kellene Catron, Steel Kitten Imagery)
