Artist History
No Such Luck is a defunct pop punk band that was together two weeks before recording their debut, self-titled, 6 song EP. The singer/guitarist/songwriter, Crazy Ed wrote each of the songs within 5 minutes, the band rehearsed twice, and then shot into the studio. During the recording sessions, the group suffered from several technical difficulties. The most notable of which was Crazy Ed's acquisition of scarlet fever, which rendered his singing voice a rather depressing whine with little pitch. Musically the band had talent. The drums and guitar could lock seamlessly together, provide a tight rhythm section and add interest to a song, despite the weak singing. No Such Luck had a Number 8 song in June, with "We'll Never Work." The highlight of their career was when the track peaked four places above Nerf Herder's (No Such Luck's favorite band) "Courtney". The remains of No Such Luck have been scattered to the wind. Aaron and Will are now playing in a death metal band that is currently unnamed. Crazy Ed is now in a melodic punk act called Unlike You. The group has an acoustic version of No Such Luck's "Alone" up on www.mp3.com/unlikeyou. They will record their demo in January 2001. They play an energetic mixture of Descendents/ALL style punk rock with a heavy Ataris/Nerf Herder influence, and a touch of Weezer. Their music is rife with flashy guitar solos, complicated bass lines, and Beach Boys three part harmonies. Despite the success of Unlike You, Crazy Ed and No Such Luck are set to rerecord a few classic tracks, some new ones, and drink a lot of coffee. They will play a few shows, and party. Kind of like the KISS Reunion tour, only people actually cared about that. |
