Artist History
Aura Phase came together in the fall of 1997 in western Massachusetts. Live performances there and later in 1998 in the Washington/Baltimore area culminated in the production of the album, "Midnight Madness". Jake Savage, born in Washington D.C. in 1978, wrote powerful, energetic songs usually based around roaring guitar riffs. Jake met Will while at college and was immediately impressed with Will’s solid, melodic bass-work; a skill Will has been honing all his life since he learned classical guitar at age 6. Chris, schooled at Berklee College of Music studied with drum greats such as Rod Morgenstein, Kenwood Dennard and Max Roach. His tight and creative drum sound, experience and versatility bring out the refreshing, energetic, original sound of Aura Phase.Aura Phase recorded one earlier album, "Sanity is for Suckers" (with Eddie Reil on the drums).Jake Savage, the heart and soul of Aura Phase who wrote and performed the guitar and vocals for all of the songs on both albums, died unexpectedly in Africa's Great Rift Valley in May 1999. |
