Artist History
Founded in 1995, Downfall is gaining a reputation for being one of the heaviest, most aggressive bands in the Pittsburgh area. Simultaneously pleasing and offending audiences in clubs such as Graffiti, The State Street Tavern in Erie, Club Laga, Coolpepper's Hothouse, and YSU's Amy's Campus 2000, Downfall is committed to performance excellence, solid musicianship, and quality sound. Drummer Mark Trefelner and bassist Herm Staving provide a thunderous rhythm section while vocalist Chris Lucci and guitarist Rob Stafford assault audiences with ear-splitting screams, crunching power chords, and blistering solos. Don't dismiss Downfall as just another old school speed metal band, though. Downfall's music is built around creative songwriting, combining styles that many bands would not attempt. "We try to bridge the gap between thrash, death, and progressive metal," says Lucci. If this sounds like an impossible task, click on the adjacent icons and take a listen! With the completion of its first full length CD, Respect, in early 2000, Downfall is intent upon bringing heavy music back to the forefront of the Pittsburgh music scene. "After almost every show we play, someone will come up to me and say, 'you guys were awesome. I wish more bands would have the balls to play what you do,'" says guitarist Rob Stafford, "there's clearly a demand in the area for heavy bands." The members of Downfall are confident that by bringing some of the area's heavier, more talented bands together, many disenfranchised area metal fans will return to local clubs to hear their favorite music. |
