Artist History
Donovan began playing in 1985 at the age of 15.He is self taught which makes his sound even more amazing. He also learned guitar from other local musicians in jam sessions and the like, but one would say that his sound & technic on the guitar equals that of someone with yrs of formal training in classical guitar. His writing is also a thing of wonder....from old italian to french cafe to new age style donovan seems to to have a natural feel for this music."To have been self taught and to have the technic and feel of classical guitar is simply amazing..." Press Reviews
On Minuet"This is a very nice piece of work. The piece is performed in an andante which provides a relaxing feel; and is performed with precision and skill. This is all the more amazing in that Donovan is self-taught. This song has elements of baroque mixed with a new age feel which gives a breath of new life to the field of instrumental guitar. If I were to voice any type of dissatisfaction at all, it would be in the realm of personal preference: I would like to hear the piece played on a classical guitar instead of an electric. I think that this would bring out some of the more subtle expressions of the piece. However, I will say that the chorus effect on the guitar is nice indeed. I look forward to hearing more work from this talented artist." Gods of Music 5/2001www.godsofmusic.com |
