Artist description
Clea Roddick is a twenty three year old mother who has honed her fierce love for performing music, wiley sense of humor and intense insight on the nature of humanity as survival skills. Inspired by music of all genres and the quirky wobble of the world, she attacks the piano to find interpretation and solace. Her roller coaster vocals fire out passionate and honest lyrics that are vividly personal: "transparency...you can see my guts". Clea has material on the burner, stimulating concoctions being brought to a boil with only one more essential ingredient necessary: you, the devoted listener. Please sample and enjoy. |

Artist History
Raised on the Blue Hills Ranch in backwoods Alberta, Clea spent most of her life chasing chickens and became an accomplished horse trainer. The Roddick household was excessively musical (7 homeschooled children and a drumkit and piano instead of a TV) and they developed a family band called Blue Mercury. Clea had a natural flair for the stage and became the lead vocalist, piano and accordian player for the country-rock/blues group who played in venues ranging from rodeos to folk festivals. Her other young musical escapades included accompanying Lee Friesen on his 'Strong and Full of Love' tour and four years teaching basic keyboards and performance skills in a small private school. A folk festival brat since the age of two, Clea had early opportunities to play with some exceptional Canadian talent including Morgan Davis, Rusty Reed and Big Dave Maclean. She even travelled to Mexico, Guatemala and the U.K., where her performances were ethusiastically received. Deciding to make music a career, she packed up her own two year old daughter and moved to Nelson, BC to attend the Contemporary Music and Technology Program at Selkirk College. During school she was band leader and arranger for the R&B band 10th St. Scandal and featured in an opening act for Bill Henderson. Clea is currently living and performing in Calgary, and has just completed a four song demo produced by Craig Newnes. |
