Artist description
The Tijuana Bibles are true believers in the power of blaring guitars, rolling bass, and a thunderous backbeat. Their music is a grand testimony to the benefits of late nights and barroom jukeboxes. Think of them as the bastard stepchildren of Keith Richards and the Girls of Russ Meyers' "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill!" Their sound will transport you to the backseat of a muscled-out '67 Chevy, put a beer in your hand, and take your clothes off. In short, TJB drinks from the fountain of kick-ass rock'n'roll and spits out your best wet dream. |

Artist History
Formed by Michelle Christman and Chris Sway (with another member who has since parted) in late 1999, the Tijuana Bibles have gone through a number of member changes before settling into their present and most crushing line-up. The story really goes back a few years, when Christman and Sway met in one of NYC's most infamous after-hours joints sometime around dawn. They each discovered their mutual admiration for each other's bands. Christman had been sharing guitar and mic duties with her sister in a band called CYN, and Sway had been grinding out metal/hardcore with AlphaJerk, fronted by the present vocalist for Sepultura. Over time these bands dissolved while the two formed a tight relationship. Inevitably they came together in the musical union known as the Tijuana Bibles. After several months of writing and rehearsing the TJB were set to make their studio debut. A couple of days before they were scheduled to record, their drummer called to quit for personal reasons. Without missing a step they called on friends Aaron Brooks, formerly drumming with the likes of Duff McKagan (of GnR) and Lenny Kravitz, and bassist Sammy Yaffa, of Hanoi Rocks fame, to make the session happen. And happen it did. They are currently promoting a self-produced EP titled "Honeymoon Suite" and gigging in such famous hot spots as CBGBs, the Continental, NYC's rock'n'roll church The Limelight. |
