Artist History
"If you haven't seen a Solar Trance show, you're missing out." That's how Debra Bush of subsonicsounds.com describes the band's live show, one half of the stuff that makes St. Louis, Missouri's Solar Trance something special.
Vocalist Jason Hart welcomes an audience to each show in his dark, smouldering style with the understatement, "We are Solar Trance, and we are here to play some songs for you." Oft heard are comparison's to Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Drummer Bradley "The Animal" Neil brings his nickname to life with powerful and simple style, sitting low-rider and sideways. They share the stage with music industry veteran Mark Zschiegner on bass and Matt Lindstrom on guitar. Over the past year, Solar Trance has played shows throughout the region, including at signature venues like Mississippi Nights, Hard Rock Cafe and Pop's in St. Louis, The Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri, and Lyon's Den in Chicago.
The other half of that special stuff? It's the songs. Described as "Creed meets Live" by Scott Scarsdale of the St. Louis Independent, the songs are written primarily by Lindstrom and Hart. When Lindstrom brings up a name like Led Zeppelin to describe the material, what in other contexts might sound pompous comes across instead as a fair description of the songs' stylistic variety. While the flavor of each of the nine tunes on the debut release varies from countrified power pop to hard rock, they all share a common denominator: catchiness.
This fall Solar Trance will take their live show on the road in support of their forthcoming self-titled debut album, sharing their sixty-minute set of all-original, radio-friendly hard rock with audiences throughout the region. The self-titled CD is scheduled for release on August 15, 2001, and the fall tour will kick off that evening with a CD release party at Sally T's in St. Peters, Missouri.
