Artist History
A spoken-word poet that began rhyming on a dare from his friends, Oktober was blessing the mic at the famous Nuyorican Poet Cafe one night when legendary hip hop deejay Bobbito asked him to come on to his radio show and do a freestyle. When a representative from SonDoo Recordings heard Oktober, he immediately tracked him down to sign him to the label. His debut single, It Was War b/w Infinite Echoes was released in January this year and is still strong on the underground with deejays across the country. |

Press Reviews
(from Stress Magazine by Donnie Kwak, contributing editor)At first listen, the beat on "It Was War" might seem like a Premier imitation, but check again. Using the Primo formula, Cave Precise loops up an innocuous lite-jazz hook and laces it with drums to make it sinister. But somehow, it comes out like a Cave Precise beat. No vocal scratches in the hook, no extra sound effects, none of that shi* that a lot of these Primo wannabes have been coming with. And the MCs flow is right on time, straight forward, relentless. Like Buckshot in delivery (not voice). "Attempt to hit presidents and armed forces/Burn Supreme Courts and Oval Office/Warnings I shouted up out the darkness/As I rode on back of horses/Similar to Paul Revere/Now my thoughts are clear/So I prepare for the Final Frontier." The B-side has this sick whistling sound underneath the track, and as I zoned out on the MC, for a second I thought he sounded like Ghostface. But not really. Call this single "Dope on Both Sides." |
