Artist History
After having logged in ample miles of rock n' roll, solo performing, choral music, securing a Bachelor's Degree in Music, and recording a solo effort entitled "I'm Only in it for the Music" (soon to be released through MP3), Jim Lawrence discovered Gaelic music in an effort to pay homage to his Scots-Irish ancestors. Once into it he thought "Where have I been all these years?", marveling that someone had invented this music just for him to perform. He produces, arranges, sings and writes the ensemble's original songs and Holly, his daughter, sings with a crystal clear, ethereal soprano that will drop your jaw and tie your heartstrings in a knot throughout the cd as well as in their performances. In addition to performing with her father, Holly is a senior at Stafford High School where she has been active in the Choral and Drama Programs, having lettered there her first year, and taken part in four stage productions. As if her singing were not enough she is presently studying the piano and in their live performances plays guitar and bodhran. She recently appeared in the short film "flushed", produced by Quiet Storm Productions, LLC. |

"Excellent two piece band both live and recorded! If you haven't seen them live, then you're missing something truly special." -Borders Bookstores ***** "A great Celtic album...quality stuff, go check out the album." -Sunstone Artists ***** “I was blown away…Holly Lawrence makes this song (The Foggy Dew) with her angelic voice...Holly is a junior in high school, and I must say that with a few more years of solid singing experience, she has the capability to make the Lawrence act well known across North America.“-Cory Koski, Gods of Music ***** On The Foggy Dew-“Hear this to hear Holly's vocals. Reminds me of Maddy Prior in the Tim Hart and Maddy Prior days before Steeleye Span…together create some of the best Celtic music on MP3.com.”-Celtic Ways ***** “On Friday evening…my family and I visited…Borders in Fredericksburg…We were just about to leave…when suddenly I heard the unmistakable acoustics of something decidedly Celtic. We listened to a couple of tunes, and then you went into “Wild Mountain Thyme,” one of my favorites. We bought your CD. Now I must have more for my friends…You are a wonderful group.”-Donald Wesley, Gowanda, New York ***** “Jim and Holly Lawrence…are wonderful…The young lady is only 17 years old, but what a gift she has…Her father plays several instruments…and has a beautiful voice himself...They are on the threshold of making their music their living, and all of us who love this music will be richer if they do.”-Bruce Bucklin, Manassas, Virginia |
